How to Avoid Skin (ALLERGY)

Skin allergy

A skin reaction that is caused by exposure to an allergy-causing substance. Skin allergy occurs in response to a substance that may cause no apparent rash or inflammation the first time a person is exposed to it. However, on subsequent occasions, after the skin has become allergic to the substance, further exposure produces an eruption. An allergic skin reaction is different from a skin reaction brought on by irritants, which is caused by contact with substances that will cause inflammation on anyone's skin. However, many substances can act as both irritants and allergens.

Symptoms of skin allergy vary from person to person but often include redness, itching, inflammation, or scaling. Diagnosis is made through a detailed medical history and examination of the skin. A PATCH TEST may be performed to test a person's sensitivity to commonly encountered substances. In patch testing, traces of possible allergens are briefly applied to the skin. Some materials — such as cosmetics, feminine deodorants, hair dyes, latex, nickel, perfumes, poison ivy, and wool — are more likely than others to be allergens.

A dermatologist can help people avoid allergens by identifying the substances that cause reactions. Treatments to control symptoms may include applying cool compresses, soothing lotions, and topical corticosteroids and taking antihistamines. Taking oatmeal baths may relieve itching. Scratching should be avoided to allow a rash to heal. The affected person should wear loose clothing and avoid excessive heat and humidity.

Thank you for looking into skin issues at our web site. Here are the top 10 skin tips for you to remember when taking care of your skin

  1. Make sure you use sunscreen: I never use anything less than a 30 sunscreen protection and I hear anything more than 45 does the same thing. You should also avoid being out or lying out in the sun between the hours of 11:00am and 4:00pm.
  2. Get enough sleep: I know how hard it is to get enough sleep. What is enough? That would be a minimum of 8 hours a day but for me it is even harder to get enough quality sleep. I toss and turn a lot in the night and wake up at least 4 times a night so hopefully with proper nutrition and getting to bed at an early hour and getting up early enough will help with this.
  3. Keep a good diet: I find that eating smaller meals more often (6) throughout the day not only speeds up my metabolism but I can maintain enough energy and proper nutrition to get me through the day.
  4. Smoking in a No no: Your body is being robbed of oxygen when you smoke and it is being replaced with poisons and oxidants. To maintain a healthy looking body your body needs proper circulation and by smoking you are depriving your body of this.
  5. Wash your face morning and night: I know my friend washes her face just at night and complains about the quality of her skin. I told her that washing your face in the morning is as important as at night because over night when we sleep a lot of yucky stuff collects like dead skin cells, dirt, and dust! We tend to neglect certain areas of our skin like elbows, heels, neck, and décolletage need moisturizing. Your scalp and the tops of your feet need sun protection too.
  6. Touch your face less, wash your hands more: Unless you are a qualified professional you should never pick, poke, squeeze, or scratch in front of your mirror. You may not realize what you are doing but you are traumatizing your skin, which leads to a greater risk of scarring. Apply the product treatment of your choice and let it do its job.
  7. Keep your makeup as clean as possible: If you look at your makeup sponge and it is no longer the color of even the makeup you use, it may be time to replace that sponge. How many of us have makeup in our possession that not even we no how old it is? Ever think of just tossing the whole kit and caboodle and starting fresh? The average shelf life for cosmetics is only 6 to 12 months. Through them away ladies and try not to buy real expensive makeup so the separation isn’t so tragic.
  8. Moderation is the key: Remember ladies more is not always better. People over exfoliate all the time and if used too often, they over acidify and can irritate your skin. Moisturizers are another over used product in fact moisturizers are one the most over used products in America. We don’t need every inch of our bodies exfoliated, buffed and moisturized all the time.
  9. Beware of new trendy products: When ever we want to add a new product line to our face or our bodies we should always do it gradually. Our skin needs time to adjust do to the fact that each skincare line or makeup product has on average at least 20 to 40 ingredients in it that means each time we ad something new to our skin we are introducing 20 to 40 potential allergens to our bodies.
  10. Don’t share make-up!! We wonder why we get pimples and eye infections such as sty’s or pink eye. It is one of the most unsanitary things you can do. Why are we sharing our eye and lip make up wit others? Would we just hand other our toothbrush if someone asks? It is the same concept. Your mascara, eye shadow, eye liner, lip stick, and lip liner are all personal items that unfortunately carry around some very potentially bad bacteria. There is nothing wrong with saying no I’m sorry I can’t let you borrow that and if you think that is rude then you can always say Oh sorry I have just gotten over an eye infection you don’t want to borrow from me. It works they run every time.

We all hope for a miracle in a bottle or a magic pill that will return us to what we once were and so much of society pushes these thoughts in us but being obsession with being flawless is ridiculous. We get wrinkles and by this we are adding character to the face.

We can think of our skin like the exterior of a car if we wash it regularly, polish it and treat it with good products it will last longer and look great over time. It’s the same with our skin. We are going to get scars, freckles and other dents and dings these are merely a map of our lives. So be proud of who you are and take care of your skin so you can help yourself offset all of the negatives, but remember aging is natural and it is a process that happens to all of us so accept it and try not to deny it.
